Our preschool

Welcome to Auburn South Preschool, we offer sessional kindergarten programs for parents with children aged 3 to 5 alongside Anderson Park in Hawthorn East, Victoria. Our curriculum is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach; we aim to build a love of learning in a nurturing and stimulating environment, recognising children as creative, capable, and inquisitive.

Our programmes are delivered by passionate and highly qualified educators in warm and welcoming classrooms, surrounded by an inspiring outdoor playground, allowing each child to explore and interpret the built and natural surroundings. We are proud to have received an overall rating of ‘Exceeding’ from the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and work hard to maintain this quality of care every day.

Our programs

A curriculum centred on creative experiences where children’s individual interests, ideas, culture and abilities are celebrated and valued.

3 year old programs focus on helping young children build trusting relationships with educators and feel secure in their new environment, providing warmth, consistency, and emotional support. Educators emphasise one-on-one connections, familiar routines, and gentle guidance to help children gain confidence, develop friendships, and feel a strong sense of belonging. Children are seen as curious and capable, encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning through exploration and inquiry. The program also fosters self-help skills and growing independence.

By 4-year-old kindergarten, children show greater independence and readiness for complex social interactions. The program emphasises collaborative learning, teamwork, and communication through group play. Educators support curiosity-driven exploration with planned and open-ended experiences, building social and cognitive skills for school readiness.

3 year old room

We welcome our new preschool children with a warm and playful room, designed to create calm and curiosity.
4 year old room

Learning spaces that inspire children aesthetically and intellectually: spaces that reinforce connections with their home, family, community and the world
Our Playground

As a vital part of open-ended play and exploration, our outdoor area is a mix of built elements and natural wild spaces. Our recent playground renovation has been exciting and inspiring for children’s play.
Social Play

Creative spaces are designed to inspire social role playing, imagination and community. These areas are changed regularly to provide new and inviting spaces for the children to enjoy.
Dot's patch

An edible garden, named after one of the founding parents, Dorothy, Dot’s Patch teaches our children about sustainability and caring for the environment.
Community Visits

These community visits (incursions), led by experts across science, music and movement, art, indigenous culture and wildlife, provide the children hands-on experiences.
